Shanghai Xintiandi is a stylish shopping, dining and entertainment district which has been developed into an urban traveller attraction that combines the past with the culture of today.

The car-free area is unique and well-known due to its interesting architectural styles. Much of it contains traditional Shikumen (stone gate) housing of ancient Shanghai, reconstructed with interiors that embody a completely different world and era. You will find an interesting mix of international galleries, bars, boutiques and cafes, and can easily while away half a day exploring the different themed cafes that lend a young and vibrant energy to the district.

The Beast cafe is a jungle themed cafe serving decadent pastries and richly aromatic coffees. It is a trendy hot spot among the local hipster community.  A hybrid shop for both coffee and flowers, it offers weekly flower training courses for CNY 500. Beast’s big draw, however, is its drip coffees from Yirgacheffe, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Kenya. The Costa Rican variety is easy to drink with no trace of bitterness – clean, smooth flavour that earns its high price tag.
