Taipei

Famous for their warm hospitality and delectable cuisines, Taiwan is definitely one of the top travel destinations for Singaporeans. One of our absolute must-eats at every visit? Braised Pork Belly Rice ($20), more commonly known as 卤肉饭. Think luscious, fatty pork belly slices braised in a flavourful dark sauce, generously drizzled on top of steamed white rice and served with a hard-boiled egg.

London

Sticking true to our colonial heritage, Amara Sanctuary’s Traditional Oxtail Stew ($25) is one of our go-to dishes whenever we’re craving for some comfort food. A hearty, full-bodied stew with oxtail chunks and tender root vegetables best paired with bread or rice (or both, we won’t judge).

The Classic Fish and Chips ($25) is also a hot favourite at Shutters. Nothing really beats munching on a freshly fried fish fillet and crispy fries while catching your favourite Netflix shows at home.

Chengdu

Mention Sichuan and the word “spicy” immediately comes to mind. Known for their intense and tongue-numbing spices, Sichuan cuisine, also known as 川菜, is definitely not for the faint-hearted.

But if you’re up for a challenge, Silk Road’s Traditional Sichuan Spicy Diced Chicken ($22) packs a real punch with its crispy chicken cubes buried amongst a mountainous heap of dried chillies and peppercorn.

Another dish to try if you’re craving for something more substantial - the Traditional Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles ($16). Al dente hand-pulled lamian noodles drenched in a delightfully spicy and nutty sauce, topped with minced pork and spring onions, this dish usually gets slurped up in minutes!

Jakarta

Bringing you a little closer to home with Cafe Oriental’s Nasi Goreng Istimewa ($16). A staple often found in Indonesia’s warungs (street stalls), our version comes with fragrant sambal fried rice, served with deep-fried chicken wing, deep-fried fish, fried egg and otah. Not forgetting ikan bilis (fried anchovies), roasted peanuts and cucumber slices to complete the meal.

Now you know where to get your fix of this authentic Indonesian street food without the 2-hour flight.

New York

Rounding off our meal with Tea Room’s American Cheesecake ($55/whole cake). This popular dessert needs no further introduction. Rich, dense and creamy, this one’s perfect for sharing with your family during after a satisfying meal.
